The other night at the milonga, a friend said to me, “dancing tango is what’s keeping me sane”. I think we are all feeling that way… in desperate need to keep our sanity. Tango allows us to just to focus on the moment, connect with others and find joy.
Tango does not care what language you speak, what god or gods you pray to your political beliefs. What matters is your embrace, musicality and connection.
Together we move in pairs but also collectively, dancing to music created by immigrants and loved by people around the world.
We dance with our heads and hearts pressed together. Connected physically, mentally and emotionally. And an especially fitting way to celebrate the day of Love, Valentine’s Day.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, there are many upcoming Tango events celebrating this “Love” holiday.

Ferry Building Tango
Friday, February 10th
Celebrate Saint Valentine’s Day with this very special milonga at the heart of the San Francisco Ferry Building. Hosted by Beatrice Bowles, Terence Clarke, and Tango Califia from 5:30 to 8:30pm. Free!
Plus enjoy the annual Food From the Heart event from 5 to 7:30pm, in the beautiful Grand Nave.
Merchants and restaurateurs at the Marketplace will offer chocolate tastings and seasonal hors d’oeuvres, and local Napa Valley Vintners will pour wine. The event is free with nominal charges for food and wine samples.

CMC Mission Milonga: Claudio Ortega & Hugo Wainzinger
Saturday, February 11th
This Saturday the CMC Mission Milonga present Claudio Ortega, Tango singer from Buenos Aires and guitarist Hugo Wainzinger! They will serenade us with a live music set of dance-able romantic traditional Tango songs.
Tango singer Claudio Ortega and guitarist Hugo Wainzinger bring the intensity and passion of Tango with each song and with each phrase. These songs endure the passage of time with their exquisite poetry surrounding the essential struggles in the human soul. Their latest CD Sombras will be available for purchase at the event.
The CMC Milonga is in a beautiful Victorian Concert Hall with smooth wooden floor and outdoor patio. All ages are welcome to listen and watch or join in the dance!
