Now that the festivities from Nora’s Tango Week are over, we can all go back to our regular Milonga’s. Oh, but not this Tuesday. This Tuesday, the regularly held Bailongo at El Valenciano will now be held at Bissap Baobab (FKA: Bollyhood).
For those who don’t know Bissap, it’s an intimate spot on 19th & Mission Street that has an impressive beer and wine selection and regularly hosts nightly cultural events and live music. Right next to it is Little Baobab, that serves traditional Senegalese food and artisan cocktails using homemade hibiscus, tamarind and ginger juices. Yum!
Glenn Corteza usually holds his Sunday classes at Bissap as well as hosts a well-attended practica. It has become a bit of a hot spot for those looking to scratch their Tango itch on a Sunday afternoon. Similar to our beloved El V…. Bissap is not large, but there is a nice bar you can cozy up to and order your favorite beverage and it’s got loads of atmosphere. And since it is an intimate spot, be prepared to be on your A-game as skilled floorcraft is required.
And for those in the know… one of our favorite Tangueras is leaving us for warmer weather and tropical breezes. Come on down and wish her “Bon Voyage” or attempt your turn at a farewell dance.
