The 4th San Francisco International Queer Tango Festival kicks off this Wednesday, June 27 at 8pm at CELL SPACE in San Francisco. Each year the queer tango festival’s opening show is an exciting event with incredible performances. Come early for the show and stay to dance with visiting festival attendees and local dancers.
This year the opening show is “Tango Road” and is directed by our very own, Daniel Peters. Live music is provided by one of our favorite San Francisco Tango groups: Trio Garufa. Performances by local and international teachers: OtroTango (first queer tango troupe), Vima Vice Squad, Astrid Weiske, Lucas de Buenos Aires, Luz Castineiras, Leo Sardella, Walter Perez, Glenn Corteza and more.

The queer tango festival encourages a vibrant, inclusive community of same sex alternative tango dancers, and provides a space in which to explore the unlimited possibilities of dancing Argentine Tango when the ordinary roles attached to gender are unhooked.

Workshops run from 11:00am to 5pm with a practica from 5pm to 6pm.
