Exciting Tango Weekend: Trio Garufa and Tango All-Nighter

April 28, 2012

Trio Garufa did it again, they put out another incredible album and threw a fantastic party to kick it off. Last night Ashkenaz drew a large crowd of not only Tango dancers but also regular fans of Trio Garufa’s eclectic and lively music. The concert showcased a lot of the compositions that we all know and love interspersed with songs from their new album “El Rumor Du Tus Tangos”. I got there late but heard Andrea and Diego taught an excellent class before the show started. What a treat to have these two native Argentinians teach together.

Here is a clip of one of the last milongas of the night: “Milonga De Mis Amores”.  Many Thanks to “Tango Student” for posting these on YouTube.  (If you look closely, you’ll see me dancing in this one).

Another highlight of the night was the performance by Homer & Christina while Trio Garufa played live.

And that was just the beginning of the weekend, as tonight is the “All-Night Milonga at The Beat”. I know for a fact that a few special guests from Los Angeles will be present.
